What is an Operations Manager?

Operations Managers lead teams and manage projects to ensure departmental and organisational goals are achieved. They provide clear, inclusive leadership, oversee day-to-day operations and ensure functions are carried out effectively, in line with company policies and legal requirements.

What does end point assessment involve for Operations Manager level 5?

For version 1.2

Professional discussion, underpinned by a portfolio of evidence

A portfolio of evidence is submitted at gateway. The discussion then takes place as a video call between the apprentice and assessor, lasting 60 minutes.

Project proposal, presentation and questioning

The project proposal will be a significant piece of work that has a real business benefit. The written proposal will be 4,000 words long. The presentation typically lasts 20 minutes, and the questioning 40 minutes.

Project with report

The project itself is carried out on programme, with the report written after gateway. The report is 4,000 words and apprentices must also deliver a 20-minute presentation and undergo 40-minute questioning with the assessor.

A portfolio of evidence is submitted at gateway. The discussion then takes place as a video call between the apprentice and assessor, lasting 60 minutes.

Useful to know

  • The portfolio is submitted at gateway.
  • For v1.2, the project is started after gateway and the report and presentation materials must be submitted by the end of week 12 of the EPA period.
  • For v1.4, project itself is carried out on programme. The report and presentation must be started after gateway and the report and presentation materials must be submitted by the end of week 12 of the EPA period.
  • For v1.2, re-sits are typically taken within 3 months of the EPA outcome date.
  • For v1.4, re-sits are typically taken within 2 months of the EPA outcome date.
  • Grades achieved in a re-sit or re-take are capped at a Pass.
