What is a Data Engineer?
A Data Engineer builds and maintains systems that collect, manage, and transform raw data into usable formats for analysts and data scientists to interpret, supporting informed business decisions. They design and optimise data pipelines, ensure data quality and accessibility, and collaborate with stakeholders to deliver scalable, high-performance data solutions aligned with business needs.
Assessment
What does end point assessment involve for Data Engineer level 5?
Project Evaluation Report, Presentation and Questions
The project will be a significant piece of work presenting a typical business task. The written project will be 3,500 words long. The presentation typically lasts 20 minutes, and the questioning 30 minutes.
Professional Discussion
The professional discussion is a structured, two-way conversation between the apprentice and the assessor. It lasts 80 minutes.
Useful to know
- The project is undertaken and completed on programme and is not part of the EPA.
- The report and presentation must be submitted by the end of week 10 of the EPA period.
- There must be a 2-week gap between report and presentation submission and the presentation and questions assessment, to allow the assessor to review the materials submitted.
- Re-sits are typically taken within 3 months of the EPA outcome date.
- Grades achieved in a re-sit or re-take are capped at a Pass.
