Assessment

What does apprenticeship assessment involve for Software and Data level 2?

Each assessment organisation designs its own assessments, in line with the requirements of the standard. We’ve designed the assessment for this standard to enable apprentices to demonstrate competence against the required assessment outcomes.

As this is a foundation apprenticeship, Behaviours are not assessed in the same way they are in end point assessment (EPA). Instead, the standard lists Employability Skills and Behaviours (EBs), and employers must confirm that the apprentice has consistently demonstrated these prior to completion.

Refer to our support materials for detailed guidance and resources.

Practical Assessment

The practical assessment must give the foundation apprentice the opportunity to demonstrate the practical application of the knowledge and skills they have acquired over the course of their training. This may take many forms, including (but not limited to) observation, undertaking a set task in a simulated environment, direct assessment of materials generated during their training, projects, presentations, compiling a portfolio of evidence.

Useful to know

  • Some parts of the assessment will take place at appropriate points during the programme.
  • The final assessment will take place after gateway to completion.
  • There may be opportunities for providers to deliver parts of the assessment, acting as a Centre.
